Statement from the church

“The Government is preparing legislation to enable churches to be open for specified times for supervised private prayer. The suggestion is that this will come in effect from 15th June.  This means that we are able to ensure limited access with social distancing and adequate cleaning. People entering the church will be asked to use hand sanitiser which will made available at the entrance. We will provide weekly readings and prayer sheets which will be single use. We are required to keep a record of contact details of everyone who enters the church. Please be aware this does not mean that the churches can simply be left open or that services can take place, the regulations relate to supervised private prayer at specified times. We are currently looking at how we can make this possible at both St Mary’s and St Peter’s in terms of both staffing and provision of materials needed. We will update the website when we know more details.”
